      Airdrie Community News - Oct. 1st

      This link has two parts, one is "Community Links" and the other is "Community Events".  Community Links is a series of workshops available for adults and children on topics like mental health, and parenting in general.  "Community Events" are events happening in our community.

      Adult Grief & Loss Support Group (registration October 26, 2023)

      For 18+

      Are you in need of support for a loss in your life? During this 6-week group, adults will become more aware of their own grief

      process and learn how to deal with it more effectively. This group will offer education, coping tools, and strategies, as well as

      support while individuals cope with their loss.

      Thursdays, November 2 - December 7, 2023, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

      Beiseker Music & Messy Play (registration on-going)

      For parents/caregivers and children 0 - 4 years

      Did you know all children learn through play? Do you want to get out of the house and connect with other families? This child

      -led group is for parents/caregivers and children 0 - 4 years old who like to get messy, use their imaginations, and explore the

      world around them. This program is offered in collaboration with the Beiseker Municipal Library.

      Tuesdays, October 10 - 31, 2023, 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

      Family Violence Women’s Support Group (registration on-going)

      For women 18+

      Have you been subjected to abuse (emotional, sexual, financial, psychological, physical, and/or spiritual) in a relationship?

      This group provides a safe and supportive environment for women to connect with others who share similar experiences. Guest

      speakers from partner agencies in the community will be included.

      Thursdays, October 12 & 26, 2023, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

      Healthy Wholistic Relationships Group (registration deadline October 18, 2023) $15/person

      For 18+

      Are you tired of doing everything for everyone else and are feeling empty and used at the end of the day? Every time you try

      to talk or speak your mind, does it always end up in an argument or more bickering as no one listens? Are you always busy

      doing chores and have no time for yourself? If you feel like this, then Healthy Wholistic Relationships is for you! Learn about

      self-care, boundaries, communication skills and overall healthy relationships.

      Irricana Messy Play & More (registration on-going)

      For parents/caregivers and children 0 - 5 years

      Parenting Children with ADHD (registration deadline October 10, 2023)

      For parents/caregivers of children 5 - 12 years (Adults Only)

      Do you have a child diagnosed with ADHD, or are wondering if your child might have ADHD? We will discuss information

      about ADHD such as symptoms and causes, resources available to support you and your child, the process of getting a

      diagnosis and explore parenting strategies that can help set your child up for success.

      impacting their day-to-day life. We will discuss information about anxiety such as symptoms and causes, resources available

      to support you and your child, and explore coping and parenting strategies that can help set your child up for success.

      Triple P Discussion Group: Managing Fighting and Aggression (registration deadline October 6, 2023)

      For parents/caregivers of children 2 - 7 years

      Are you a parent/caregiver of a child between 2 - 7 years who manages their big feelings with fighting and aggression? This

      program will explore ways to teach a child to communicate their feelings in a positive way, identify what things trigger their

      emotions and learn better ways to cope with those emotions. Limited free childcare is available.

      1. Sept. 30th - National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, hosted by City of Airdrie 
          • Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The day honours the children who never returned home and survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconcilation process. Circle Connections for Reconcilation leads the event at Nose Creek
